'The Z Files’ is a transmedia research and production project consisting of temporary installation, digital content creation, archive, the production of physical art-installations/objects as well as through a digital performance played out on the project’s website, Twitter and Instagram.

The Bibliothek Andreas Züst has a very high percentage of books related to aliens. Approximately 1% of the total catalogue (120/10,400=1.15%) are materials on the subject of Ausserirdische (transl. Extraterrestrial) as well as other related pseudo-scientific subject areas. Such eccentric topics of research are usually unacceptable due to their unproven, highly speculative and fraud-fraught nature. Such nonscientific materials were juxtaposed with related scientific materials from reputable subjects such as Astronomie. Reality and non-reality collide through 'The Z Files’ while truth, documentation, and the reputability of sources are all called into question, causing viewers to begin a process of inquiry and critical examination; a process which may be becoming a forgotten ability, dusty and forlorn, along with the contemporary Western lack of disparity between assumed facts and falsehoods. Between the physical world, that of imagination and that which lies beyond our ability of perception exists a non-space to be explored and revealed. Is the truth still out there?
