Moss Recipe R&D (2016-12-06)The Fake it Till You Make it (FITYMI) on 2016-12-06 was 3 hours of experimentation, getting messy, socializing, eating and fiddling with biology! During the event, participants experimented with inventing different recipes for growing moss with ingredients like beer, yogurt, sugar, egg shells, coffee grounds, potato-water, fruit, flour, paper, old tea leaves, and many other things. We recorded all of the recipes and will document which recipe produces the best results. The winning recipe will recieve some of the alternative currency, Ŧ's (Ŧemps).

USB Powered Plants (2016-12-10)The 2016-12-10 FiTYMI session was part of the Porin Juhlaviikot 2016 programme and included 3 hours of messing with electronics, socializing, as well as a little bit of frustration. During the event, participants worked with electronics to create a terrarium in a bottle with an LED grow-light inside that is powered by USB. Cup of Soap (2016-09-11)The 'Cup of Soap' FITYMI on 2016-09-11 saw the reboot of Fake it Till You Make it, after being on hiatus for more than a year. FITYMI participants collected herbs and other odoriferous natural materials from the Helsinki Botanical Gardens which they then combined with oil and turned into soap in a disposable paper cup.
This edition had +10 participants which made it a lively/social atmosphere where everyone seemed to have a great time while experimenting with the soap making process. |
Coconut Oil (2016-11-05)During the 2016-11-05 session of FITYMI participants cut open a lovely bunch of coconuts and went through every step of the process of refining the flesh from a coconut into oil. FITYMers began by cuting open their coconuts, removing the flesh from the shell, macerating the innards, washing the fruit in hot water, then ringing out the liquids and then finally evaporating the water so that only the oil remained. The oil was divided up into jars for all of the participants to take home.
