Apocalypse Apothecary

'Apocalypse Apothecary' is an interdisciplinary exhibition by Justin Tyler Tate, which includes: an immersive installation, experiential non-traditional art objects, audio and video works, workshops and a publication. The totality of the project creates pathways for developing one’s relationship to the surrounding landscape as well as one’s own body.

ARCHIPELAGO

‘Archipelago’ is an open-source system for assembling modular and temporary architectural structures utilizing PET bottles. It empowers individuals to recycle for and by themselves, so that materials can be removed from the waste stream in order to create large-scale structures, habitats and environments.

hACkathon

hACkathon is a multifaceted project, produced for and executed during Pixelache Festival 2021 (2021/06/06-13). The project encourages individuals to dissemble, examine, hack and repurpose discarded or functional air-conditioning units for the purpose of giving them the added passive functionality of extracting carbon from the atmosphere. Primrose Promises

Primrose Promises is a body of work which includes stills constructed from found objects, chemically accurate botanical illustrations, photography, mapping, in addition to collections of non-visual and non-traditional art objects.

CubeFarm

CubeFarm is a modular agriculture system which can be constructed by anyone using basic tools and common materials. The project seeks to provide fresh produce locally, while reducing waste materials as well as greenhouse gas emissions through collective participation in the project.

Peer2Pickle

The intention of Peer2Pickle is to be both a physical as well as a virtual space for exchange, an archive as well as a database of solutions for transforming food waste into longer lasting products with the intention of sharing information for the purpose of collective problem solving and inspiring alternative economic models.

Pop-Up Shop Kinmen

‘Pop-Up Shop Kinmen’ is a momentary transformation of an abandoned house. Through a quick cleaning and renovation of the space, the ruin was revived and repurposed into something between a small store, a museum and a cabinet of curiosities.

The Z-Files

The Z Files is a transmedia research and production project consisting of temporary installation, digital content creation, archive, the production of physical art-installations/objects as well as through a digital performance played out on the project’s website, Twitter and Instagram.

Shine

Shine explores the principles of bioluminescence by combining cheap technologies with repurposed waste materials through experimentation, play and labor in search of easily adoptable, repurposable tools/techniques.

(re)Construction Manual  is a book and website compiling an array of techniques that an individual can use or adapt, accommodating a myriad of resources, situations and environments. The methods depicted in this website/book are basic building blocks that can be innovated and developed based on the needs of the local context.
